FAQs

How much does carpet cleaning cost in Barnsley?

Carpet cleaning packages start from £60, with individual rooms from £30 each when combined into a package. Stairs and landing are quoted separately. Minimum booking £60. Every quote is fixed in advance on WhatsApp — no call-out fees.

Can every stain be fully removed?

We pre-treat urine, food, wine and blood marks with enzyme and oxidising solutions, but we're always honest — some permanent staining, dye damage or wear marks may improve without fully disappearing. We'll show you before we start.

What method do you use?

Commercial hot-water extraction — deep injection of cleaning solution into the pile, then high-pressure recovery. Far deeper than a domestic shampoo machine and dries in 2–4 hours.

Can you remove pet and tenant stains?

Yes — we pre-treat with enzyme and oxidising solutions for urine, food, blood and red-wine stains. Set-in stains may not lift 100% but we'll show you before booking.

How long until the carpets are dry?

2–4 hours with windows open. Air-mover hire is available on request if you need it dry faster for same-day photography.

Is it safe for tenants and pets?

Yes — all solutions are non-toxic and rinse-extracted. Carpets are safe to walk on as soon as touch-dry.

Do you do upholstery too?

Yes — sofas, mattresses and dining chairs as add-ons. Same hot-water extraction process.

Which areas of Barnsley do you cover?

All Barnsley postcodes S70–S75 — Monk Bretton, Kendray, Athersley, Wombwell, Hoyland, Penistone, Cudworth, Royston, Darton and Dodworth. Also Sheffield, Rotherham, Wakefield and Doncaster on request.

Do you provide before/after photos for the letting agent?

Yes — every job comes with time-stamped before/after photos for tenancy files, inventory clerk sign-off and deposit disputes.

Hot-water extraction vs a domestic carpet shampooer

Rug Doctor and similar hire-shops shampooers push detergent into the top layer of a carpet and pull a small amount back out. They leave behind a lot of moisture, some detergent residue and almost all of the deep-pile grit. That's why home-shampooed carpets often re-soil within weeks — the residue attracts dirt.

Commercial hot-water extraction (the method we use) heats water to 60–80°C, injects it under pressure deep into the pile and vacuums up 95%+ of the moisture on the same pass. Combined with a proper pre-spray and dwell time, it removes ground-in dirt, allergens, dust mites and pet dander — not just the surface layer.

The pet urine problem in Barnsley rentals

Pet urine is uric acid crystal. It doesn't dissolve in water and it doesn't respond to detergent. Rain, humidity, mopping — anything wet reactivates the crystals and the smell comes back.

The only way to genuinely remove pet urine from carpet is enzyme pre-treatment (which breaks the crystals down at a molecular level) followed by hot-water extraction (which lifts the broken-down residue out of the pile). We do this as standard on any Barnsley carpet clean flagged as a pet home — no extra charge for the enzyme, priced per room as normal.

What a carpet clean does — and doesn't — fix

  • Fixes: general dirt, traffic lanes, food and drink stains, pet dander, allergens, dust mite build-up
  • Fixes (usually): pet urine odour, red wine, coffee, tea, blood, mud, make-up
  • Improves: old set-in stains, wear on stair edges, dulling from years of foot traffic
  • Doesn't fix: dye damage (bleach, hair colour), permanent burn marks, cuts, moth damage
  • Doesn't fix: physical wear where the pile is already gone

Which carpets we clean in Barnsley homes

  • Polyester and polypropylene — the most common modern Barnsley carpet, extraction-friendly
  • Nylon — hard-wearing, cleans well, dries in 2–4 hours
  • Wool and wool-blends — deeper clean but longer drying (8–14 hours)
  • Sisal and jute — rare, low-moisture method only
  • Berber loop-pile — great for stairs and landings, cleans well with careful extraction
  • Stair runners, hallway strips and Persian-style area rugs (in-home only)
